Safety In Numbers

It is very important that we keep Emergency Numbers stored in your hand phone or in your personal directory beside you land line telephone.  Why?  Because you will never know when the need to contact such in case of emergencies.  Most of us store numbers of our families, business associates, close friends, etc to the point that we can memorize even the most complex numbering system.  However, we do tend to overlook emergency numbers that are just simple to remember and they may one day save your life or the lives of your loved ones.

Below are some tips that you can consider:

  • Always store emergency numbers close by.  Whether its in a personal directory book or in the memory of your hand-phones.  These numbers now are provided in simple three (3) numbers such as: 117  for police, and other emergencies.  It is also good to have the contact numbers of your immediate local barangay office or medical hospital, or clinic on standby.  Most telecom carriers also have hotline and emergency numbers. Please take time to save them in your directories.

  • A popular code being used is "INC" which stands for In Case Of Emergency.  It contains the immediate contact number of the person that needs to be informed in cases of emergency.

  • In your hand phone directory, always prioritize the numbers of your immediate family or relative so you can easily access or scroll them.  Most cell phones have a quick dial feature.  Use this and it will come in handy in emergency cases.

  • For pre-paid users, always maintain proper load balance for emergency calls.  Some networks provide free call services within their networks but its also better to have ample load credits to call emergency numbers in other networks or in the landline.  Remember, a call is quicker and you can explain much better in emergency situations that sending an SMS or text.  A voice call is also one way to verify the situation on hand.

  • Always have the batteries of your hand phone and mobile communication devices on ample power.  You don't want to experience loss of power during emergency situations

Please pass the above information to your families, friends and associates.  We welcome any comments, suggestions, additional ideas, tips and information that you may want to contribute to ensure  "safety in numbers".
